"Excellence Counts"
- Report on the Endowed Professorships Scheme
First launched in 2005, the Endowed Professorships Scheme represents exemplary partnerships between town and gown, with each individual donation from the community matched by the University in terms of funds and no less in vision and aspiration.
Each endowment established ensures the perpetual support for a specifically designated area of research and development. In addition, each endowment has made a mark in the history of human knowledge, either by elevating the respective area of research to an unprecedented plane, or creating a new dimension of enquiry which would otherwise be impossible.
Excellence Counts Report 2009, the first official report produced for the Scheme, is therefore not just a record of the achievements and accomplishments of our Endowed Professors in the past three years but also a testimony of our donors contribution to the community and impact on human lives.
As the volume of this publication expands over time, the impact of the Endowed Professorships Scheme as a whole will become even more visible and far-reaching. |
