Treasured memories of student life at HKU Members of the University family of all generations, from the pre-War years to the present, are invited to record your memories of life at HKU so that these testimonies can be used as background information for a book on the University’s Centenary History, which will be published in 2011. Your testimony will only be used as general background information for the Centenary History, and no personal data will be used without your permission. You may contribute information anonymously if you wish, but it will also be helpful to identify yourself so that I am able to contact you for further information. All materials collected as part of this programme will be housed in the Centenary History Collection and will ultimately be deposited in the University Archives for future use by scholars interested in the history of HKU. Graduates and alumni who would like to assist in this project are invited to visit the website: www.hku.hk/alumni/cunich , and answer a series of questions about your time spent at HKU as a student. If you would prefer to communicate directly with me about your student experiences, you may contact me by writing to the Department of History (tel. 2859-7049; 2859-2874; email: pacunich@hkusua.hku.hk ). Thank you in advance for your assistance. Your University Archives Needs You! The mission of the University Archives is to serve as the official memory of the University and the HKU Family. We need your help to preserve our shared memories of the institution for the benefit of future members of the HKU Family. Therefore, we would like to provide an opportunity for more alumni, former faculty and staff to donate their own memories of their time at the University to the Archives. There are many types of memorabilia that can be given to the Archives and preserved for the future. We are interested in all types of photographs of the campus, buildings and grounds, photographs of people, especially those of a social nature which document student life, sound and video recordings of all types, slides, papers, syllabi, course schedules, teaching and planning documents, programmes and invitations, diplomas, artifacts like sports memorabilia, sporting uniforms, trophies and awards, and mementos of the different halls of residence. Mementos of student clubs and organisations are particularly welcome. We welcome materials dating from the Japanese occupation years (1941-45) and the decades before the Second World War to the very recent past. The University Archives will take care of all materials to the highest professional standards, and will make these materials available for future appreciation and study. Contact us at 2219-4191, or email us at hkua@hku.hk to get more information about how your contributions can help tell the story of The University of Hong Kong.
