F orty years are almost half a century. The child who used to play on the streets is by now one of the many established professionals or community leaders of the same piece of land. Forty years can engender enormous transformation, both for the child and our Faculty of Law, which humbly started as a Department of Law in 1969 with only one undergraduate programme of about 40 students per year. It grew into the School of Law in 1978 and attained full Faculty status at The University of Hong Kong in 1984. In 2009, the Faculty of Law is happily celebrating its 40 th anniversary.
