Building aTreasury of Knowledge The family of the late Mr SzetoWah kindly donated his collection of books, manuscripts and artefacts, which are now permanently housed in the Libraries’ Special Collections. Contributing in Kind A donation of carpet tiles, worth approximately HK$500,000, was received from an alumna. The carpet tiles will be used as floor coverings across the campus. Selling Books for Research Renowned author Ms Eunice LamYin-nei 林燕妮 (MPhil 1982) initiated a charity book sale to support research on microbiology. To provide additional space required for the double cohort intake of students this autumn, and the curriculum, as well as students’ changing learning needs, the entire third floor of the Main Library has transformed into a learning commons-style facility. It is made possible by a HK$10 million donation from Dr TamWah-ching 譚華正博士 . Creating an Innovative Library More Giving Stories: www.hku.hk/giving Giving in Focus 31
