The book《昨日的影 今日的光 — 粵語片劇照風華半世紀》, edited and compiled by Oscar-winning director Ruby Yang, features over 400 lobby stills, posters and playbills from San Francisco Chinatown theatres of films made in Hong Kong in the 1950s and 1960s, along with legendary stars of that time. It is a record of Hong Kong culture from the perspective of cinema. Join us and celebrate the collective memories and contributions of the Hong Kong film industry.

《昨日的影 今日的光》   楊紫燁主編的《昨日的影 今日的光》,通過四百多幅從世界戲院三千珍藏精選出來的劇照,帶領讀者進入粵語片五光十色的世界。在這些難得一見的畫面中,讀者既能一睹粵語片昔日光彩,也能從另一個側面認識舊香港,以及它和各地華人千絲萬縷的連繫。

展示的五、六十年代影像來自美國三藩市唐人街世界戲院的大堂劇照、海報、宣傳刊物和歷史圖片,結合平面和電子影像,重溫香港人觀影體驗的集體回憶之餘,亦向那個年代的演員、導演、編劇和製片致敬。展覽分為:集體回憶、昔日夢工場、舞台掠影、性別二重奏、女性的悲喜離合、英雄.女俠、手繪特效、逃避現實、戰慄懸疑、新舊社會、早期香港電影足跡、世界戲院等十二個主題,簡介粵語片夢工場的運作和變遷,當中重要的主題和類型,以及在國內和海外的影響。而投影銀幕則播出來自經典名片的劇照,滿載巨星紅伶的經典形象。嘗試喚起觀影記憶以外,亦希望引領各位重新認識香港電影的寶貴遺產。
