1: How will the money from the Bricks Campaign be used?
Donations from the Bricks Campaign will be used to support the University’s campus developments. Your brick donation is a wonderful way to show your support of the continuous advancement of HKU and contribute to a quality education for future generations. It is also a great way to honour your loved ones and to create a tangible memory of your fond times at HKU.
2: Are donations to the Bricks Campaign tax deductible?
Yes, donations of HK$100 or above to the Bricks Campaign are tax deductible and a receipt will be issued for tax deduction purposes. In addition, donations to HKU are cumulative. Donations totalling HK$20,000, including those from overseas, will be eligible for HKU Foundation Membership.
3: Where will the engraved bricks be installed?
The engraved bricks will be installed in a prominent location at the University's Centennial Campus and will be part of one of its distinctive features.
4: Can I join with my friends or other alumni to place a group order?
Alumni or donors who want to make brick donations as a group may contact Ms Tang at 2241-5240 or bricks@hku.hk for enquiries. For group orders of 10 bricks or more, the bricks under the same group will be clustered and installed together on the new campus; a free brick bearing the name of a group/class donating 30 bricks or more will be installed among its bricks as a token of our appreciation.
5: Is it possible to inscribe my message in Chinese?

Brick inscriptions in either English or Chinese characters are welcome. For more information about inscriptions, please read the Donation Form.

6: If I place an order and decide that I would like to order another brick, what should I do?

Ordering further bricks is simple and can be done by completing a separate order form for each additional brick. This will ensure each brick you order is correctly engraved and its location properly noted.

7:  After I place my order, can I change the text?

Each donor is allowed to change the text only once. Please contact Ms Tang at 2241-5240 or bricks@hku.hk for further assistance.

8: If I want extra lines of text can I have smaller lettering or spacing?

Brick colour, typeface and character size have been carefully chosen to preserve the aesthetics of the wall and cannot be changed to accommodate extra words or changes in the size of lettering or spacing. Please ensure the text you submit for engraving is within the parameters of the brick size you have chosen. Donors will be responsible for misspelled names or messages submitted on the donation forms. The University reserves the right to refuse any inscription that it deems inappropriate.

9: What process is used to engrave the bricks?

The Centennial Campus bricks are engraved using the most up-to-date engraving technology available today. Laser engraving creates the most permanent and durable brick marking possible. This process will ensure your words will withstand the test of time - and the Hong Kong weather - allowing you to clearly see your personal message for years to come.

10: When will my brick be installed?

The bricks will be installed when the Centennial Campus is completed in 2011/12 but you are invited to pledge a brick now. Donors will be regularly updated about the progress of the Centennial Campus development and will receive a free small brick replica as a memento. Join now to ensure your brick placement.
