Class Notes 57 GeorgeYuen 袁金浩 (BA 1966) George participated in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) meeting held in Paris in March. As a Council member of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Paci c (UNESCAP) and Director of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia), George spoke at its International Business Dialogue. In his speech, George remarked, “Hong Kong has been named the freest economy in the world by the Heritage Foundation and the Fraser Institute consecutively for nearly two decades. Hong Kong has bene tted enormously from being part of the Asia Paci c. We from Hong Kong are happy to share our experience, work with the OECD members to strive for stronger economic success, and forge deeper and broader economic links with our ASEAN partners.” Darwin Chen 陳達文 (Hon DSocSc 2004) Tang Shu-wing 鄧樹榮 (LLB 1982; PCLL 1983) Congratulations to Dr Darwin Chen (right) who was bestowed the Life Achievement Award, the highest accolade, at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2012 by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council for his long-term contributions to the local arts and cultural sectors. Among the awardees’ list, the Award for Best Artist (Drama) went toTang Shu-wing (left) for his support and contributions to the development of drama in Hong Kong. NobuTomita 富田信 (alumna 1957) Returning to Hotung after 56 years In the summer of 1957, Nobu Tomita, a student of Kobe College 神 戸 女學院 , disembarked from a boat and spent her rst night in Hong Kong at Lady Ho Tung Hall. She and ve other Japanese students were volunteers who joined an international work camp in Wu Kai Sha 烏溪沙 in the New Territories.
